Identity design and communication campaign

October, 2019
Me and my partner were asked by C.M.Amadora to design and brand the 30th annual Amadora BD comic book festival, creating a cohesive and visually striking concept that captures the festival’s spirit. We developed the graphic concept, branding, outdoor and social media communication, TV ads, merchandising, web design, signage, and space decoration, ensuring every aspect aligned with the festival’s vision and goals.

Visual and overall concept

For this edition of Amadora BD, we crafted a communication strategy that directly engages with the comic book world. The characters in the illustration use speech balloons to promote the event, making the connection with the medium clear.

The concept plays on the name “Amadora BD.” “Amadora” is the festival’s location, while “BD” stands for comics in Portuguese (banda desenhada). We further explored this by splitting “Amadora” into “Ama” (Love) and “Adora” (Adore), integrating “BD” to highlight the passion for comics. We used a hyphen as both a spelling and graphic element, allowing the design to share the “A” without repeating it.

The result is a versatile, visually engaging, and adaptable design that enhances each piece of the festival’s communication.
